A late 18th century French two colour gold and enamelled cased keywind open-faced gentleman's pocket watch, the movement with verge escapement and pierced and engraved foliate scroll balance cock, the backplate signed 'Gudin a Paris N. 1533', the white enamelled convex dial with black Arabic hour numerals and signed 'Gudin', the rose gold case with engine turned decoration and blue enamelled monogram panel to the back, within yellow gold guilloché borders, total weight 58.1g, case diameter 3.9cm. Note: the Gudin family were prominent Parisian master watchmakers during the 18th century, with Jacques-Jérôme Gudin (1732-1789) being one of the most important Parisian horologers during the reign of Louis XV, known for his high quality clocks and pocket watches.
