USHER, James. An Answer to a Challenge Made by a Jesuite in Ireland. London: for Benjamin Tooke, 1686. Fourth edition, 4to (197 x 158mm.) In 3 parts, separate titles for ‘A Discourse of the Religion Anciently professed by the Irish and Brittish’ and ‘A Brief Declaration of the Universality of the Church of Christ’. (Browning, marginal wormhole through ‘A Discourse..’ and a small wormhole through most of ‘An Answer’, occasional spotting, minor soiling, imprimatur leaf partially excised, blue ink to front blank.) Contemporary calf (upper cover detached). – And a further volume (published by Edward Fowks, a Bible in Welsh, [lacking title, defective], 1664, 4to) (2).
