A Chinese carved pale celadon jade figure group of a deer and faun, Qianlong period, finely modelled with the recumbent deer holding a pierced blossoming prunus branch in its mouth, the recumbent faun at its side with lingzhi fungus in its mouth, the stone of pale celadon tone with russet inclusions across the back, length 10.7cm, height 7.5cm, the hardwood stand carved and pierced with lotus, rocks and bamboo above a silver wire inlaid base with scroll feet, total height 10.7cm. Provenance: Sir William Younger, 1st Baronet, of Auchen Castle (1862-1937), and thence by descent. Sir William was the current vendor's great grandfather.
