A Chinese silk embroidered child's festival hat, late Qing dynasty, possibly Yunnan Province, worked in coloured and gilt threads with flowers, birds and scrolls on a red ground, the foliate surmount enclosing a child holding a rabbit, the sides applied with two fish, the front with applied spring bobbles, flame bordered mirror panel and tassels, width 24cm, applied paper label with red wax Jianding seal. Provenance: the property of a West Sussex lady collector.
