LOT 340
A rare Commonwealth miniature toy silver wine taster, the circular body repoussé decorated with foliage between beaded bands framing a central rose to the base, flanked by a pair of loop handles, London 1653 (maker's mark illegible), weight 8.1g, diameter 4cm, width across handles 6.8cm. Provenance: the private collection of the late Guy and Sylvia Watkins. Christie's, 11th October 1972, Lot 29, and described by Christie's as the earliest recorded fully marked silver miniature. Illustrated in 'Miniature Silver Toys' by Victor Houart, Illustration 186. Purchased from The Old Corkscrew at Olympia in 2014.
