A late 19th/early 20th century French ormolu novelty inkstand, modelled as a horseshoe with jockey cap lid and riding boot feet, the horseshoe with blue enamelled nail-head border and inscribed Latin verse by the ancient Roman poet Horace, Satires, Book 1, Satire 9, width 11cm (faults).
