An 18th century miniature toy silver fire grate, possibly Irish, the fireback with finely engraved decoration and lion mask, above a similarly decorated ash flap, the grate with turned horizontal columns to the front and vertical columns to the sides, the reverse with engraved bird crest and initial 'M', triple struck 'IS' maker's mark to reverse, weight 76.7g, height 10.4cm. Provenance: the private collection of the late Guy and Sylvia Watkins, purchased from Adams Auctioneers in Dublin, 12th December 2017, Lot 67.
