An early George III gold and shagreen pair cased keywind open-faced gentleman's pocket watch, the gilt fusee movement with verge escapement, the finely pierced and engraved balance cock with diamond endstone, the backplate detailed 'Fras Perigal LONDON 15259', the white enamelled dial with black Roman hour numerals, the case interior with 'SG' case maker's mark and numbered '15259', London 1763, total weight 60g, case diameter 3.7cm, the gilt metal and shagreen outer case with studded decoration, outer case diameter 4.5cm. Note: Francis Perigal (II) was a renowned London watchmaker, born in 1734, son of Francis Perigal I, apprenticed in 1748 and made free of the Clockmakers' Company from 1756 to 1775.
