CHARLES I. England's black Tribunall. Set forth in the Triall of K. Charles, I. London: for J. Playford, 1660. First edition, 8vo (162 x 98mm.) In 2 parts. (Soiling throughout, numerous small paper repairs, larger repair to F4-F5 and Q2-Q3, lacking portrait frontispiece, lacking last leaf Q4, blanks replaced.) Near contemporary calf, later red morocco lettering piece to the spine (repair to spine ends, some loss to lower cover). Provenance: David Lidslew (name inscribed verso 'Table'); Philip Busnel (name inscribed to front pastedown); R.E. Ford (name inscribed to front pastedown). - And a further six related volumes (including William Henry Ireland's 'Confessions… containing the Particulars of his Fabrication of the Shakespeare Manuscripts', 1805, 8vo, and William Creech's 'An Account of the Trial of William Brodie and George Smith', 1788, 8vo) (7).

[BYRON, Gordon George Noel and Percy Bysshe SHELLEY and Leigh HUNT, et al]. The Liberal. Verse and Prose from the South. London: John Hunt, 1822-1823. 2 vols. in 1. First edition, 8vo (212 x 123mm.) 2 separate titles, second volume dated 1823, 2 contents leaves, with errata verso. (Browning, some corner creases, spotting to rear leaves, pencil annotation verso front-free endpaper.) Near contemporary calf, two morocco lettering pieces to the spine (rebacked, scuff marks, rubbing, hinges with tape repairs). Note: contains 3 parts, I-III, of the short-lived journal, lacking the final part IV. Provenance: Charles Rew (bookplate verso the front-free endpaper). - And a further three volumes by Lord Byron (including the first octavo edition of Cantos I and II of 'Don Juan', 1820, 8vo, and also 'English Bards, and Scotch Reviewers', 1810, 8vo) (4).

Victoris Vticensis libri III de Perfecutione Vandalica in Africa, cum annotationibus ex Fr. Balduni I. C. Commentaris rerum Ecclesiasticarum. Paris: Claude Fremy, 1569. 8vo (159 x 90mm.) Title, woodcut initials and headpieces, text in Latin, with the commentaries of Francois Balduin. (Stained throughout, damp-staining to front and rear leaves, ink annotations in a late 16th century hand, damp-damage to front endpaper and damp-staining to title and leaves ai-avii.) Early 18th century calf, black morocco lettering piece to the spine, armorial gilt to covers (some discolouring, later endpapers). Provenance: P. Leroy (ink inscribed to title); John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute (coat-of-arms to covers).
