GOLDEN COCKEREL PRESS (publisher). - Omar KHAYYAM. The Rubaiyat… Edward Fitzgerald's Translation Reprinted from the First Edition. [London:] The Golden Cockerel Press, 1958. Limited edition, this being number 87 of 200 copies, small folio (312 x 186mm.) Title vignette and engraved illustration by J. Yunge Bateman. (Small closed tear to frontispiece.) Original red cloth, pictorial gilt to upper cover, glassine dust-wrapper (chipping, small tears). Note: contains a 'Compliments' note from Christopher Sandford, proprietor of the Golden Cockerel at this time. The recipient was William Russell Flint who writes in pencil on the front-free endpaper 'Received 27.8.58 with Christopher Sandford's compliments/ the illustrations are just laborious vulgarities, WRF'. Flint has also written 'Illustrations vulgar beyond words!' on the compliment slip itself. Provenance: William Russell Flint (initials inscribed on front-free endpaper, from the family by descent).

FLINT, William Russell (illustrator). - George LONG (translator). The Thoughts of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. London: Philip Lee Warner, 1909. Limited edition, this being number 111 of 500 copies, 4to (265 x 198mm.) 12 tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue-guards. (Toning, browning to front-free endpaper.) Original cloth-backed paper-covered boards with paper labels mounted to upper cover and spine, t.e.g. (browning to board edges and spine). Note: loosely inserted an invitation to meet Russell Flint 'daily until December 24th at the Medici Society Gallery which held the exhibition of his water-colours for this work. - And a further fifteen volumes, most illustrated by William Russell Flint, three of them inscribed by him (including 'Pictures from the Artist's Studio: Sir William Russell Flint R.A.', 1962, 8vo) (16). Provenance: William Russell Flint (from the family, by descent).

STANBROOK ABBEY PRESS (publisher). - William Russell FLINT. The Lisping Goddess, A Figurehead Fantasy. Worcester: Stanbrook Abbey Press, 1968. Limited edition, this being number 270 of 275 copies signed by the artist, folio (346 x 204mm.) Numerous plates. (Toning.) Red morocco bound by Bayntum's, with Flint's three Nereid's in gilt to the upper cover, t.e.g., slipcase (slight rubbing). Note: the first 25 copies were bound in full morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. This number was originally bound by Mansell in half morocco. Flint himself had this copy rebound by Bayntum. He writes in pencil on the front-free endpaper, 'W. Russell Flint, first bound copy received from Bayntum, Nov. 25 1967'. Provenance: William Russell Flint (from the family, by descent). - And a further volume (the limited edition of William Russell Flint's 'In Pursuit', signed by his grandson Christopher Russell Flint, 1970, folio) (2).
