TRIALS. – Joseph and W.B. GURNEY. The Trial of Richard Patch for the wilful murder of Isaac Blight, on the 23rd of Sept. 1805, at Rotherhithe, in the County of Surry. London: for Edward Jeffrey, 1806. First edition, 8vo (184 x 105mm.) Half-title, 3 engraved portrait plates, 1 engraved folding plan of the murder scene, 1p. of contemporary manuscript notes bound-in. (Moderate to heavy browning and dust-soiling throughout, lacking blanks and B1-B2.) 21st century brown calf-backed marbled paper-covered boards, red morocco lettering piece to the spine (endpapers replaced, sunning to spine). Provenance: Edward Braxton Reynolds (bookplate to front pastedown). – And a further four volumes (including ‘The Queen v. Palmer. Verbatim Report of the Trial of William Palmer… May 14, and Following Days, 1856’, 1856, 8vo) (5).

YORKSHIRE. – Thomas Dunham WHITAKER. The History and Antiquities of the Deanery of Craven, in the County of York… with many additions and corrections. London: J. Nichols and Son, 1812. Second edition, large 4to (303 x 236mm.) 53 plates, including 24 sepia-aquatints, 1 hand-coloured plate and the additional title and portrait frontispiece, also the folding map and 19 folding genealogies, a 7pp. ‘Prospectus of a General History of the County of York’ bound-in. (Some scattered light spotting, browning, occasional offsetting.) Contemporary half morocco over marbled paper-covered boards (sunning to spine, lightly rubbed). Note: plates correct as per list to rear. Provenance: John Hammond (ink name to initial blank). – And a further volume (the third edition of this work, 1878, large 4to) (2). Provenance: the property of The Much Hon. The Baron of Stobo.
