A Japanese Satsuma earthenware jar and cover by Kinkozan, Meiji period, of square form with fluted corners, each side finely painted and gilt with quatrelobe shaped figural panels of samurai, maidens and children, reserved against a dark blue ground, filled with gilt flowers, scrolls and simulated brocade, the similarly decorated cover with foliate finial, iron red enamelled signature seal and impressed seal to base, height 17cm (cover restored).
