A mid-17th century silver medal by John Roettiers commemorating the marriage of Charles II and Catherine of Braganza 1662, obverse with laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Charles facing right, reverse with draped bust of Catherine facing right, Eimer 224, diameter 43mm, weight 38.7g (extremely fine with cabinet tone and reflective fields), with copy of original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 28th Jan 1946, Item 5, for £1-15s. Note: this medal was very popular with the public at the time and it is probably the 'Golden Medal' commemorated by the poet Edmund Waller in his 'Epigram upon the Golden Medal': 'Our guard upon the royal side! On the reverse our beauty’s pride! Here we discern the frown and smile, The force and glory of our isle...'. A Charles II silver medal by John Roettiers commemorating the Landing at Dover 1660, obverse with draped bust facing right within a frame of laurel branches, reverse with standing figures of England, Ireland and Scotland awaiting the arrival of an approaching ship, Eimer 211, diameter 57mm, weight 57.9g (extremely fine with lovely underlying cabinet tone and lustre), with what is possibly the original fishskin-covered presentation case with red material lining and hinged hook clasps (distorted). A late 17th century bronze medal by J. Roettiers, circa 1683, probably a laudatory medal or award for services, obverse with bust of Charles II facing right with long hair, armour and mantle, signed 'J.R.' on truncation, reverse with royal arms within garter, lion and unicorn supporters at the sides, lion, crown and plumes above, like Eimer 267 but bronze variant, diameter 53mm, weight 51g (extremely fine with original bronze finish), with an old ink-written collector's ticket and copy of original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 27th April 1946, for 15s. Roettiers, circa 1683, probably a laudatory medal or award for services, obverse with bust of Charles II facing right with long hair, armour and mantle, signed 'J.R.' on truncation, reverse with royal arms within garter, lion and unicorn supporters at the sides, lion, crown and plumes above, like Eimer 267, diameter 53mm, weight 65.3g (extremely fine with cabinet tone and reflective fields, no evidence of mounting which is usual for this type), with an old ink-written ticket and copy of original approval invoice from B.A. Seaby Ltd, dated 27th April 1946, for £2-10s. A Charles II silver Liberty of Conscience medal 1672 by Philip Roettiers, obverse with armoured and draped bust facing right, reverse with figure of Libertas seated, holding a sword and cornucopia in her right hand and a book inscribed 'Fides' in her left, edge detailed, Eimer 249, diameter 59mm, weight 94.9g (fine/very fine, fields marked, uneven patina, possibly cleaned in the past but now toned).
