After Baron Carlo (Charles) Marochetti - a mid-19th century brown patinated cast bronze equestrian figure of Prince Albert on horseback, cast by Elkington & Co Ltd, Prince Albert dressed in regimental uniform with tied sash and military order, the rectangular stepped plinth inscribed 'Elkington & Co Limtd', height 52cm, width 46cm, depth 20cm. Note: this bronze is after the original model by Baron Carlo Marochetti (1805-1867), which stands in George Square, Glasgow, a work so admired by Queen Victoria that a copy was commissioned for Windsor. The original Glasgow statue was the first of several works that the Turin-born sculptor produced for the royal family, who became his patrons after he settled in England in 1848.
