A William IV mahogany elbow hall chair, in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster, the shield back finely carved with acanthus leaves and 'c' scrolls, centred with a painted armorial crest of a ducally-gorged swan's head holding a key, the solid panel seat raised on turned and reeded tapering legs, height 88cm, width 53cm, depth 48cm (some repairs). Provenance: Christie's, English and Continental Furniture and Carpets sale, 27th April 2006, Lot 138.
