LOT 2007
A William and Mary oyster kingwood and seaweed marquetry collector's cabinet, in the manner of Gerrit Jensen, raised on an early 19th century figured mahogany and gilt metal mounted stand, the cabinet with a cushion frieze drawer above a pair of doors enclosing an arrangement of drawers and a central cupboard, with overall shaped reserves of seaweed marquetry, overall height 168cm, width 110cm, depth 50cm (faults). Note: the highly intricate arabesque marquetry on this lot bears close comparison with a group of furniture attributed to Gerrit Jensen. These include two cabinets in the collection of the Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, where Jensen worked between 1688 and 1698. A similar cabinet was sold in Bonhams Fine Furniture Sale, 4 June 2014, Lot 2.
