British School - a late 18th/early 19th century circular half-length portrait miniature of Lieutenant General Paul Anderson, Colonel of the 78th Highlanders, watercolour on ivory, the glazed rear compartment containing a lock of hair and bearing inscribed label, diameter 5.3cm, together with two other miniatures by the same hand, depicting 'Lady Elizabeth Paul nee Wallis' and 'Ellen Bolton nee Wallis', both labelled to reverse. Note: a non-transferrable ivory exemption certificate has been granted for the sale of this item. Provenance: family descent from Lieutenant-General Paul Anderson to the current vendor. Formerly at Grace Dieu, Waterford. British or Irish School - an 18th century oval half-length portrait miniature of a gentleman, identified as Charles Bolton (1759-1788), watercolour on ivory, 7cm x 5cm, within a glazed gold mount, the reverse inset with hair, together with another 18th century portrait miniature, identified as 'Mrs Wallis (Mrs C Bolton's Mother)', watercolour on ivory, 6.5cm x 5cm, within a gold mounted frame, the reverse inset with a glazed panel of hair within a border of blue enamel. Provenance: family descent from Lieutenant-General Paul Anderson to the current vendor. Formerly at Grace Dieu, Waterford.
