William Mussill - Study of a Miltoniopsis Roezlii Orchid and Two Shells, watercolour and gouache, signed, indistinctly titled and dated 'Trentham 6/5/77', approx 49cm x 64.5cm, together with three similar watercolours with gouache by Mussill. Note: William Mussill was born near Carlsbad in 1828. In 1872 he was employed by Mintons, where he remained until his death in 1906. Mussill had access to the orchid house at Trentham Hall, near Stoke-on-Trent, and did many watercolours there, which he then transferred to china.
