A George III needlework sampler by Maria Cressey, 'in the 11th year of her age', 1814, the central verse beneath a blossoming fruit tree flanked by flowering plants, a bird in a flowering bush below, all contained within a strawberry border, worked with coloured threads in mainly cross stitch, approx 42cm x 31.5cm, within a gilt composition frame.
