A mid-18th Century and later oak longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell, the square brass dial with single hand and date aperture framed by a chapter ring with Roman numerals and inscribed 'Rd. Bullock, Ellesmere' and numbered '264', the hood with moulded pediment above a glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with arched door above a plain base and bracket feet, height approx 199cm, together with pendulum and weight (alterations). Note: Richard Bullock of Ellesmere, Shropshire was born in 1719 into a family of clockmakers, led by his father Edmund Bullock and continued by his brother Jeremiah Bullock. Richard Bullock died in 1797, aged 78.
