LOT 64
Attributed to Thomas Barker of Bath - Two Figures and a Dog resting on a Woodland Road near Thatched Cottages, a Herdsman and Cattle beyond, late 18th/early 19th Century oil on canvas, approx 61.5cm x 74cm, within a pierced gilt carved and composition frame. Provenance: purchased from the Bjork sale, Stockholm in 1923 by the Leggatt Brothers, subsequently sold by them to A.W. Martin Esq. in 1924 as 'by T. Gainsborough, R.A.', subsequently reattributed in 1984 by John Hayes as a work by Thomas Barker of Bath. This painting has been consigned for sale by a direct descendant of A.W. Martin Esq.
