                A mid-19th Century French ormolu mounted figured mahogany portico clock with eight day movement striking hours and half hours on a bell via an outside countwheel, the cast dial with foliate surround framing a chapter ring with black Roman numerals, the centre cast with opposing griffons and inscribed 'Laine A Paris', the flowerhead cast pendulum of temperature compensated design, the case with flat top above four pillars on a rectangular base, plinth and bun feet, height approx 54cm. Note: the clockmaker Laine is recorded as working in Rue de Vaigirard, Paris, up until 1860.
