A rare pair of Staffordshire pottery models of pipe-smoking spaniels, mid-19th Century, each modelled seated with facial detail, gilt collars and underglaze black patches, on a turquoise washed base with moulded scroll apron picked out in green, height approx 21.5cm (minor faults). Note: these models were inspired by the prints of Sir Edwin Landseer, notably the 1840 print entitled 'A Quiet Pipe'.
