LOT 1080
An early 18th Century burr walnut longcase clock with brass five pillar eight day movement striking on a bell, the brass break arch dial with silvered chapter ring and black Roman numerals, framing a matt centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture, beneath a silvered boss to the arch inscribed 'Tho Wightman in George Yard, Lombard Street, London', all cornered with pierced and cast gilt spandrels, the hood with caddy top and three giltwood ball finials above blind frieze frets and glazed door flanked by turned columns, the trunk with arched door, on a crossbanded base and plinth, height approx 260cm, with pendulum, two brass cased weights and keys (restoration). Note: Thomas Wightman apprenticed to Henry Hester Jr in 1692.
