An Edwardian oak 'Caxton' newspaper and book stand by Liberty & Co, bearing inset 'Patent' label, fitted with a gilt brass handle and two fall-flaps, the ends fitted with a cigarette drawer opposing a pipe rack, the shaped supports united by a book trough undertier, height approx 81cm, width approx 43cm. Note: a similar stand is illustrated in Liberty & Co Yuletide Gifts catalogue 1903/1904.
