An Indian katar, probably early 19th Century, the double edged fullered blade, length approx 21cm, with swollen armour piercing tip, steel hilt retaining traces of gilt damascene decoration, in its pierced sheath retaining some gilt damascene bird decoration, with gold coloured cord, together with a folded scrap of paper, inscribed 'Dagger 7th Rajput Regiment 1-19 + 10 Gurka [sic] Regiments ca. 1850, quoted by: Philip Sainsbury who had served in the Rajput Reg'.
