LOT 1096
A George III mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking hours on a bell, the painted break arch dial with Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and inscribed 'Hargrave Bawtry' beneath an oval panel of a standing maiden, the hood with dentil cornice above inlaid urn panels, glazed door and turned columns, the trunk with crossbanded door above similarly crossbanded base and ogee bracket feet, height approx 216cm, with pendulum and two weights. Note: James Hargrave worked in Bawtry, Nottinghamshire from 1797 until his death in 1835. The trunk door interior with Brian Loomes label.
