                DAVIS, John King. With the 'Aurora' in the Antarctic 1911-1914. London: Andrew Melrose, Ltd, [n.d. but 1919]. First edition, 8vo (236 x 165mm.) Title printed in red and black, portrait frontispiece, 40 uncoloured plates, 5 maps, 1 folding map at rear. (Browning and spotting.) Original blue pictorial cloth blocked in gilt (extremities lightly bumped and scuffed, lettering to spine faded, minor soiling, plate facing p.86 and pp.87-90 now loosely inserted). Spence 354. Provenance: Rupert Thomas Gould (presentation inscription from the author 'Lieut Commander R.T. Gould R.N. With compliments and best wishes from John K. Davis. Melbourne, April 1931' to front-free endpaper); The Michael Gilkes Collection.
