RUNCIMAN, Walter. 'Sunbeam II.' In 1930 [The Private Log]. Newcastle upon Tyne: [Andrew Reid & Co., Ltd.,] 1930. 4to (243 x 186mm.) Photographic frontispiece, 4 photographic plates, 16 photographic illustrations. (Light browning, occasional minor light spotting.) Original cloth blocked in gilt (extremities lightly bumped, spine faded, slightly damp stained). Note: presentation inscription 'With the Author's Compliments December 1930' to front-free endpaper. Aged 83 Sir Walter Runciman took delivery of Sunbeam II, built by Denny Brothers of Dumbarton. Sunbeam I was broken up so she could not be used other than for the purpose she was originally built. This volume covers 18th March to September 5th with Sunbeam II sailing with 26 crew from Newcastle to Gibraltar, Malaga, Malta, Venice, Corfu, Athens, Corsica, Cannes and Southampton amongst other destinations.
