RUNCIMAN, Walter. Cruise of the 'Sunbeam' in the Mediterranean 1927. The Private Log & Diary. [N.p.: Hudson & Kearns, Ltd., n.d. but circa 1927.] 4to (245 x 180mm.) Photographic frontispiece, 7 photographic plates, 24 photographic illustrations. (Light browning, occasional minor spotting.) Original cloth blocked in gilt (extremities lightly scuffed, spine faded). Provenance: 'HWS' (presentation inscription from Walter Runciman 'HWS from WR Oct 1927' to half-title). Note: this volume covers March 16th to June 23rd, the Sunbeam's 53rd year of worldwide ocean travelling. The yacht visited Portofino, Elba, Cannes, and Ryde amongst other destinations; unable to berth at Blythe the Sunbeam left for Southampton. On this voyage the Sunbeam boasted an 8 piece band and conductor along with 25 crew. Provenance: The Michael Gilkes Collection.
