A Springfield .50-70 breech loading military rifle with nickel plated barrel, length approx 82.5cm, hinged breech block, nickel plated lock, struck 'U.S. Springfield' and dated 1863, full-stocked with two split barrel bands and plated furniture (stock cracked and repaired behind lock, varnished overall).
