LOT 1490
A salt glazed stoneware Yeovil Riot jug, early 19th Century, the body moulded in relief with fruiting vines and oak leaves framing a royal coat of arms opposing agricultural implements, the front applied with a silver shield shaped presentation plaque, inscribed 'Presented by the Inhabitants of Yeovil and its Vicinity in Testimony of their Approval of the Conduct of the Mudford Troop of Yeomanry Cavalry during the Riots in that Town in 1831, to Mr John Caines', height approx 25cm.
