An Edwardian Arts and Crafts mahogany and inlaid tub back armchair, in the manner of Leonard F. Wyburd and probably made by Cornelius V. Smith, the shaped panel top rail inlaid in copper, pewter, satinwood and boxwood with stylized peacock and heart motifs, the upholstered seat and back flanked by a pair of vertical handrests with ball finials, raised on block legs, bearing stamped initials 'C.V.S' to rear leg, height 114cm, width 65.5cm. Note: a similar armchair design is illustrated in 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915' by Daryl Bennett, p.133.
