An 18th century midshipman's dirk with straight double edged blade with central fuller, length 22cm (tip ground down), brass crosspiece (lacking quillions), oval guard struck 'FT' [Francis Thurkle], tapered ivory grip, brass pommel (worn overall). Provenance: from the estate of the late Alistair Morris.
