A .577 percussion oval bore service rifle, number 688, barrel length 84cm, with tangent rear sight and barleycorn front sight, side mounted bayonet bar of Brunswick form, border engraved lock, struck with crown and dated 1859, full-stocked with steel furniture, including trigger guard with grip and two sling swivels, butt struck '688 W&C.Scott' (pitted overall, nipple damaged, ramrod missing).
