LOT 701
A 1796 pattern infantry officer's sword with straight single edged blade, length 82cm, retaining much blued and gilded decoration, including crowned 'GR' cypher, trophy of arms and Royal Arms (some patches of light pitting), gilded brass hilt with folding guard (some gilding rubbed), silver covered grip representing wire binding, in its brass mounted leather scabbard (damaged, now in four pieces). Provenance: formerly the property of General Paul Anderson, thence by descent.
