DIARY. A journal kept by Edward L. Bigelow of Marboro' Massachusetts, dated 1853-1859, approximately 193pp., leaves 20.5cm x 17cm, the journal provides a gloomy and angst-ridden account of the teenager's day-to-day life, including time on the family farm and at a Wesleyan Academy in Wilbraham, Mass. Note: cancelled name Horatio Alger to the first page suggest this book was a gift from the American novelist who is also mentioned in the diary.
