[Princeton: Institute for Advanced Studies, September 1947.] Part I, vol. I, 4to (280 x 215mm.) Reproduced typescript throughout. (Light creasing to latter leaves.) Original wrappers (backstrip replaced and subsequently covered in adhesive tape). Provenance: Imperial College London (library labels, inkstamp and ink markings to cover and title, inkstamp to fore-edge). Note: the first major publication on the design and architecture for stored program computers, also known as the von Neumann or Princeton architecture, and considered the foundation for modern general-purpose digital computing. This paper was preceded by Von Neumann's 'First Draft of a Report on the EDVAC' but the present is the first regularly distributed work.
