A Mettlach stoneware Book Series Merchant stein, circa 1900, the body moulded and detailed as the spines of leather bound books beneath the tappit lid with pewter mounts and mercury head thumbpiece, the lid inscribed in German 'Time Is Money', impressed factory marks to base and shape No. '2001', height 16.5cm, together with a Mettlach catalogue 'Villeroy & Boch 1885 Mettlach 1905', Anton Post.
