A large pottery two handled jar and cover, probably T. & R. Boote Ltd, mid-19th century, of gently fluted cylindrical shape decorated with four Classical figures in black with gilt detail beneath anthemion, the handles with foliate terminals beneath the domed cover, black printed 'Patent Mosaic' factory mark with a line from Homer's Odyssey to the base, height 40cm (one handle repaired).
