A rare Sussex pottery slipware flagon, dated 1777, of elongated bulbous shape with three bands of an impressed chain motif to the neck above the impressed dotted date, the loop handle with dotted edge and terminal, height 43cm (faults). Note: the present owner believes there is only one known piece of Sussex pottery dated earlier than this.
