A Second World War period Japanese katana with curved single edged blade, length 63.5cm, signed tang, oval steel tsuba, tape bound sharkskin covered grip and leather covered scabbard (dismantled), together with accompanying handwritten letter to Geoff [Moore] from Steve, 52 Group, dated 2 April 1947, mentioning: "Did you get your Jap sword home OK?".
