WITCHCRAFT. [A manuscript amateur grimoire. N.p.: n.d. but mid/late 17th century] 476 numbered pp., oblong, 8vo (86 x 140mm.) The majority of handwritten leaves with red ruled border. (Ink stain to 4pp., browning and creasing to some page margins, p.50 torn out, missing all leaves after p.476). Contemporary black morocco (missing rear cover, damp-stain to upper cover). Note: contains densely handwritten notes on charms, remedies and spells such as 'how to catch pigeons', 'how to make a woman dance naked', 'how to know if any sicke person shall die', 'how to recover decayed tobacco' and the 'rarest and most hidden secrets for to procure love proved to bee effectuall in this age by many'. Contains two tables and a drawing of a pentagram ('Pentaculum Salamonis'), and also some recipes.
