ATLAS. - G. Woolworth COLTON. General Atlas… Letter-press Descriptions, Geographical, Statistical, And Historical by Richard Swainson Fisher. New York: G.B & C.B. Colton & Co., 1868. Folio (441 x 356mm.) 103 hand-coloured lithographed maps on 97 sheets (23 double-paged, 80 single page) and 1 black and white map, a steel engraved plate before the title-page. (A three inch tear to the 'California, Nevada…' map [no. 82.], one loose single page map 'Venezuela, New Granada…' map [no.89.], spotting to preliminaries and rear leaves and occasionally to map margins, two small stamps to the title page and one to top of the 'List of Maps'. Publisher's morocco blocked in blind and gilt, (rubbing to all extremities). Provenance: Garrison Library, Malta (three small stamps to the preliminaries).
