Nel van Bakel - Study of a Doll in Asian Costume, possibly Chinese, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1937, 23.5cm x 19.5cm, within a silvered frame. Note: almost certainly one of the works included at the artist's exhibition of doll paintings at the Arlington Gallery, Bond Street, London in December, 1938. The exhibition was opened by Count van Limburg Stirum and received favourable reviews in both 'The Lincolnshire Echo' and 'The Western Morning News'.
