LOT 3104
OWEN, Richard. An album compiled by Caroline Owen née Clift, containing approximately 52 ink and watercolour drawings by Edward Hull, circa 1866-1898, most on letters addressed to Richard Owen or his wife and offering seasonal greetings; the album also contains a letter from E.W. Cooke, a watercolour of a pig and a group of pen and ink drawings by Robert Hills. Note: Sir Richard Owen was a noted naturalist and palaeontologist and founder of the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, London. A letter from Edward Hull in January 1884 relates to Owen's knighthood and includes a vignette of the Natural History Museum just a few years after it opened.
