                An early 19th century French ormolu and brown patinated bronze mantel clock with eight day movement striking hours and half-hours on a bell via an outside countwheel, the white enamel circular dial with black Roman numerals and inscribed 'À Paris', the urn shaped case with pineapple finial above applied fruiting vine and a pair of satyr mask handles, on a circular foot, the stepped square plinth base with cast leaf and anthemion band, height 41.5cm, together with a pendulum with butterfly moulded bob, winding keys, ebonized stand and glass dome. Provenance: formerly the property of Joseph Julius Kanne (died 1888), who was Queen Victoria's courier from 1858. This clock was just one of a number of presents gifted to him by the Queen, thence by descent.
