LOT 1161
A George III mahogany longcase clock with eight day movement striking on a bell, the painted breakarch dial with a scene of a British naval gunboat to the arch above subsidiary seconds and date aperture, inscribed 'Woolterton Yarmouth', cornered with gilt foliate scroll spandrels, the hood surmounted with brass orb finials above the moulded arch pediment, turned columns and glazed door, the trunk with arched top rectangular door, on a plain base and bracket feet, height 226cm, with pendulum, two weights and winder. Note: John Woolverton or Woolterton is recorded as a clockmaker working in Great Yarmouth from 1780 until his death in 1815.
