LOT 1222
A George III oak longcase clock with thirty hour movement striking on a bell via an outside countwheel, the silvered circular dial with black Roman hours and outer Arabic minutes framing a subsidiary date dial and engraved flowers, inscribed 'John Malkin Kirkby', the hood with swan neck pediment, circular glazed aperture to hinged door and turned columns, the trunk with hinged door and quarter columns, on a plain base and plinth, height 204cm, with pendulum and weight. Note: John Malkin is recorded as a clockmaker working in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, between 1771 and 1780.
