LOT 1231
A Victorian mahogany circular wall timepiece with eight day single fusee movement, the repainted 12-inch dial with black Roman hour numerals and inscribed 'Start Point Lighthouse commissioned 1st July 1836' and 'Trinity House Corporation' within a moulded surround, case diameter 37cm, with pendulum and case key. Note: Start Point Lighthouse was built in 1836 to protect shipping off Start Point in South Devon. It is owned and operated by Trinity House and has been designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage.
